A race!

*He smirked back at him, still adjusting to the sight. So… so much green. Like the hills! Concentrate! He crouched down, fingers brushing against the jungle flooring, flexing a little to test the pressure he could put on the ground. He looked like he was ready to pounce. In a way, that’s exactly what he would do: a controlled pouncing motion. Turbo was lucky to partner in this race with Sonic: both of them had an intense appreciation for the simple joy of working to the limit, of watching the environment shift in their gaze, and the love to race. On-planet racing would give him another subtle pleasure, of the wind on his face. It was a beautiful thing, and even if he lost, he would treasure it.*

*It took him a moment to adjust to the spore thing. It was a little bit of a hindrance, and he stayed behind Sonic cautiously, watching for any tricks - like the wall just ahead of them. If they could get fast enough, they could run straight up it, but Sonic himself wasn’t going nearly fast enough — aaah! Springs! Clever! He grinned even wider and closed in on the substantial, cautious gap he’d given them. Excellent, he could do this!*

*Aaah, but perhaps Turbo was counting his chickens before they hatched, seeing so suddenly Sonic took a slight pit stop and grabbed onto a device nearby and started doing…pull ups? One, two. One two!

Eventually, Sonic was hoisted up onto a higher vine-pipe-like pathway he could run on at what full speed he could use with saving his ring energy. He was back in the lead in no time, and Turbo couldn’t see him! Eventually, Sonic hops right back down and the loop is in sight! But still rather far away. Who’d get there first?*

*He would remain on the ground. That was his focus; as long as there was no obstacles, he’d make his way on the surest path he could see, and even if Sonic was going to use mechanisms to speed himself along or cut his route a little shorter, he would still try to win. He’d just have to push himself harder.

He put on another burst of speed, hustling hard. Come on… come ooooon…*

A race!

“To a degree.” *He shrugged, easily sliding back into a cool and controlled aura. Best not look like some kid when around another racer, not if he wanted the respect he was due.*

“Loop.” *He peered on ahead, pressing his lips together for a moment and contemplating the terrain. Plenty of things to trip over. And the mushrooms. Goddess knows what sort of advantage those would give to someone who knew how to use them. Best play it safe with those and just stick to level ground.*

“Alright then. Sounds good for me.” *He cracked his knuckles, grinning. What would this Sonic look like when he lost? Heh… heh heh…*

Pshhh; whatever! *Sonic knew better; from his expression, he was pretty impressed. He assumed from where this Turbo guy came from, he’s never had a place like this in his zone. Maybe after the race he’d show the guy the world. Or maybe do a couple rematches!

Sonic got into position.*

Alright!

Ready…. Set!

GO!

*And off Sonic ran; a few spores kicking up under his feet and floating away from where he once ran. He was coming to a rather early dead end, and for some odd reason he just kept on charging. Luckily for him, and he probably knew it was there, but a spring sent him flying up over the wall! And he just kept on running afterwards; across marble, vine, and grass. A smile was present on his face all throughout the run.*

“What… is this place, Sonic?” *The weird bouncy things that Sonic was jumping around on… he’d never seen anything like this alien plane. And it was different from the other place. A world with multiple climates and habitats? Strange.*

“Alright!” *He gave a confident thumbs-up.* “Where’s the finish?”

*When Sonic walks back, he sends Turbo a smile.* I told you; Mushroom Hill Zone! What, you impressed?

*And Sonic has to think on the finish line tid bit. He gave it some thought…*

…If my memories are right…There should be a loop somewhere down the path here. *He pointed ahead; it wasn’t in view. Meaning it’d probably be a long raceway.*

First one to run through that loop, wins!

*It was the track he was most familiar with; he’d never actually raced on Mobius before, but his previous masters from the other dimension generally had him racing up on the Meteor Fields or the ‘Interstellar Circuit’, which was a big fancy race track built on a satellite. He’d occasionally raced on other planets, but this one definitely looked different.*

“Angel Island…” *He’d never heard of such a place before, but it should be simple enough to decode. ‘Island’, a place surrounded by ocean on all sides. ‘Ocean’, a great… expanse of water…* “Y-yes…” *He wilted.* “If you have other means to get to this race track, I would be most appreciative.”

*He wrinkled his nose back at him.* “I… I suppose so. —But it’s always been about winning before.” *SUCH CONFUSION.* “If by those terms, I’ll give you the best challenge you’ve ever seen!” *Back to the perky childish excitement and ego. The Sonic from his world was the best match he’d gone against. This one looked like he could be even better.*

*Sonic goes back to tossing the Emerald in mid-air proudly;* Alright! *Seeing that was his means of teleporting.*

…No, it hasn’t always been about winning!

If it has, where would the fun be? All you’d get is disappointment if you do lose!

Heh! Looking forward to it; cause here we go!

*He gripped the silver Emerald tightly, letting it spark with power and light.*

Chaos Control!

*Within seconds, the Emerald’s flickering light soon enveloped them both, taking them across space and time to the destination Sonic called on with his will. Angel Island. Straight to Mushroom Hill Zone. And just as fast as they departed, they soon appeared; into a land filled with mushrooms that would make Mario drool. They bounced with a certain unheard music, and a few spores floated by from time to time. Like the occasional flicky and squirrel. Vines covered almost the entire area, and the hedgehog was not only looking for the beauty in his surroundings; but also…!*

Aha!

*He ran away from Turbo for a second; launching himself into midair by jumping on a mushroom. It took him rather high enough for him to do a flip and snag a ring or two. They went inside him; giving the energy he needed to give this guy a proper challenge!

He put one foot into the center of the mushroom. Letting it collapse and throw him off. He landed safely and returned to Turbo’s side, putting his Emerald away.*

Ready when you are!

*He was used to teleportation, but not Chaos Control, and the effects were profoundly different on his form. As soon as they arrived, he almost pitched forward, dizzy and nauseous.* “Kazjat!” *Whups. Took a moment for him to get oriented, and to look around at the scene in total wonderment.*

He pouted almost comically at the prospect of his favourite race-track collapsing out of existence. “Really???” Oh dear… it could have definitely occurred on this world…

“Alright then!” He was not to be dissuaded. “You name a track, and we’ll go! I just want to warn you, though—” Here, he preened and puffed up like a balloon. “You’re looking at the fastest racer in the galaxy.” His eyes sparkled with mirth. “Never lost a race. Can you take such crushing defeat???”

*Sonic didn’t pay much attention to his pout as he dusted himself off a tad. He didn’t really know this Turbo guy well; so he didn’t know if he was just spoiled or really liked that race track.

He gives Turbo his full attention. ‘Name a track, and we’ll go!’* Alright!

This is going to be a stretch, but how about Mushroom Hill Zone on Angel Island?

If you’re worried about getting there, don’t worry…

*He pulls out a silver Emerald, tossing it up in the air with pride.*

I’ve got that covered!

*But the tossing of the Chaos Emerald stopped at Turbo’s own ego boost, Sonic raising an eyeridge at such a thing. Especially at the ‘never lost a race part’.*

Dude, it’s not about winning; it’s about the challenge and honest competition, right?

I’m not here to win; just to have fun with it!

*Though, honest competition… now he was wondering how he could give Jet so many rematches. The guy was a cheater!*

Heh! Sure!

…But where’s Meteor Fields, though?

In the sky! I believe you call it… ‘Meteor Herd’ or something to that extent. >3 I am very eager for this race, hedgehog! I have been training for it! *excessive finger pointing*

Meteor Herd? Isn’t that on the ARK? I thought it collapsed!

*He lets out a chuckle at Turbo’s eagerness. Nothing like new competition!*

Of course, if you want to hold the race somewhere else ‘cause of it, feel free!

He pouted almost comically at the prospect of his favourite race-track collapsing out of existence. “Really???” Oh dear… it could have definitely occurred on this world…

Sonic! I challenge you to a race in the Meteor Fields! Are you hedgehog enough to do it??? - Turbo

winged-master-of-chaos asked: Who are Kii, Turbo and Kachi? And why is Kii sometimes called Failed Experiment?

shadow-of-my-eye:

*clears throat* They’re…servants of mine.

[[Isn’t part of headcanon, mind you! Kii and Kachi are Doom’s kids. Kii was made from spare DNA from Doom in addition to Gerald’s DNA (hence the “Failed Experiment” title) and Kachi was born from Turbo and Doom. Oh, the RPs with Jack~ Turbo is a canon character from the UK Sonic comics (I think?) and Jack plays him as a loyal servant to Doom. Yay!]]

(To be more exact, Kii is composed of several different samples of DNA, like the Biolizard. He is impure and patchwork in his genetic information, and the reason why he had to be spliced together with other DNA is because of the degradation of Doom’s DNA, what little they had left of it. It is honestly doubtful as to whether Gerald’s DNA is in his makeup, but he definitely considers Robotnik to be his ‘papa’, and even though he was mistreated, he mourns his passing, and wears clothing similar in tribute to him.

Kii is referred to as Failed Experiment not because of his genetic makeup, but because of a general lack of power on his part. They attempted to engineer synthetic power and strength, but his overall form was too weak to be of any use to them. He was locked away and intended for dissection and experimentation, but was unleashed at a later point and time, and reunited with a family he doesn’t believe in.

Kachi’s existence doesn’t break any laws of biology, as the Saranj (Turbo’s species) are an interesting case of how evolution or design worked around the difficulty of finding healthy mates, and the long time in between mating periods. He will be Turbo’s last, however. In appearance, he fits more closely with Saranj physiology, especially regarding his long tail, upward oriented quills, nanjaka, fur-growth, and dexterity, but distinct differences under the fur have proved his mutant hybrid reality, and the unlikelihood of producing viable children of his own.

Turbo is a racing alien and a slave, taken from the planet Keldeza. He butted heads with Sonic several times, either racing in the Meteor Fields, on Extreme Gear, or fighting head to head as a servant of Void. While he has the physical Mobian appearance of about 17, he is, by his race’s standards (and by England’s standards), an adult, and he has the family to show for it. We are operating in an AU mode that assumes that this family is dead, and that that he has signed on with Doom - this is very awkward, though, as this rp blog was intended originally to update people on another AU featuring Turbo and STC Super Sonic, Archie’s Brotherhood and Legion, and SEGA’s Nocturnus clan in one glorious mesh of treachery, broken hearts (guk) and the end of the world. … It’s strange.)

Waaah Hibernating!!!

Kachi is all the time wanting milk! I will need to eat more food soon, but it is too comfortable in my nest! And Master is most often saying ‘bring more food to my chambers!’, and Shadow-kai is always not nice to me, and making the tripping motions so that I will drop things, or trying to scare me, or being a mean person! And Kachi keeps getting doctor visits because it isn’t working, that thing, and Master thinks that it is on purpose, even though he does not mean to regenerate, and I cannot trust Kii-sensei all the time, because he has a most frightening expression, and he cuts Kachi’s tail off all the time!!!

But this is a better job than the other place.

And it is better than being a slave! They give me nice clothing here, and a room of my own, which is not cold and dead feeling like in the Twilight Cage!!! And I am not told to sleep with people and make alliances and things—

Zachary says that my position is ‘ludicrous’. And that no one will believe what I am saying. He says that like him, I am…

—how is it? Composed of many versions… it was something like that. That in one place, I was a person that did these sort of things, and had adventures in a certain way, and in another place, I was a different person! And then something happened, and the me’s got mushed together into one me. He says that this happens a lot of the time, and that only a few people remember only a few things about the other places.

But I remember it all. Maybe when I stepped out of the Twilight Cage, I started all over again here. Maybe that happened when I was taken from Mobius into the Twilight Cage too. Maybe I was supposed to die because of Super Sonic, and that was my start-over point… And maybe I was supposed to die because of Moritori, and I was given a start-over point with Lord Doom!

But then… if these were places where I could start over… what happened to the other me’s? What happened to Spectre? Does he remember that we were together? Does Moritori still search for me, and want me dead? Is my Sulari still alive, or Dreamwalker? It is bad for me to remember, because remembering makes me sad, and Kachi does not deserve an Ama that is sad all the time, or that remembers other children over him. He is a good child, and he is my child, and he grows more like his father every day…

I will forget everything, and maybe it will be better as that… Maybe it will be better to just be the Turbo that betrayed a nation and became feared Mei-ka at Black Doom’s hand, to kill what is in his path, and to raise the larvae of Black Doom, and the Chosen Prince, and little Kachi.

I still want to post of what happened in the Cage, though. When Doom does not look and does not know, I will maybe write a little more of it in the Basic tongue, and put it up.
